This position is located in Harrisonburg, at our Camp Horizons. We are nestled on 350+ beautiful acres in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
We’re looking for a sharp Payroll Specialist, with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payroll on a bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis and will have experience using ADP Workforce Now.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Payroll Specialist will perform payroll processing and accounting duties to support both the HR and Accounting departments.
- They will ensure payment is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for salaried, hourly & daily rate employees. They will also comply with all state and federal regulations as it pertains to timekeeping, tax payments, and any garnishments or levies.
- This position will also perform accounting duties in-between payroll cycles including but not limited to budgeting, reporting, financial analysis and posting to the General Ledger.
- They will assist the Director of Finance and other team members in all levels of payroll/accounting tasks to provide the best customer service to the employees and management. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level of confidentiality.
- The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of both the bi-weekly & semi-monthly payroll cycles.
- Must be able to review timecards, compute & reconcile wages, overtime, and other types of pay with accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in the maintenance of employee & payroll records including mapping to the General Ledger and PTO tracking and reconciliation.
- Take ownership of posting payroll to the general ledger by ensuring all costs are mapped to the correct general ledger accounts and departments.
- Assist with financial reporting and analysis projects upon request.
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, precision, discretion, and confidentiality.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience processing payroll (ADP Workforce Now preferred).
- Minimum 1-3 years of accounting experience
- Experience working with NetSuite preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with rigid deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel in particular.
- Must be respectful, honest, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
